Renewable Energy Market
Deloitte’s 2024 Renewable Energy Industry Outlook finds that the tandem push of federal investments flowing into clean energy and pull of decarbonization demand from public and private entities have never been stronger.
Renewable portfolio standards and clean energy standard policies are expected to require 300 terawatt hours (TWh) of additional clean electricity by 2030. More states, localities, and public utilities are expected to invest in renewables in 2024, as the IRA’s direct pay and transferability mechanisms help enable their market participation.
Regulatory boosts to renewable energy and transmission buildout could help address grid constraints. As renewables become a larger part of power generation and the portfolio of technologies grows, perceptions could start catching up with the reality that renewables can enhance grid resilience.

The Distilled Water Market
Bottled Water Market’s Exponential Growth – The bottled water market is set to grow by $102.44 billion USD from 2022 to 2027. The bottled water market is fragmented, and vendors are seeking strong partnerships with automotive, industrial, and commercial companies to compete in the market. Free of potential contaminants, distilled water is ideal for a wide range of medical, commercial, industrial, and home uses.
A Shortage of Distilled Water? There has been a shortage of distilled water since 2017 in various parts of the country. During the last 18-24 months it has changed from a temporary issue to a more permanent issue due to supply chain problems and manufacturing shortages.
A Freshwater Shortage is leading to a Surge in Purified Water Demand. Researchers at Stanford University found last year that recycled wastewater is safe to drink and also less toxic than other tap water sources because it is more rigorously treated.

The Biochar Market
The Biochar Market in the U.S. is a niche but growing segment within the broader field of sustainable agriculture and environmental management.
Uses range from retail gardens to landscaping, turf and trees, community gardens, municipal stormwater, small to medium farms with high value crops, environmental applications and building products. Large scale farms will adopt biochar when biochar-based products to solve are available in large quantities.

Biochar is a simple and inexpensive way to capture carbon and lock it away for generations and centuries. That, in turn, has attracted the interest of corporations who are interested in purchasing carbon credits to offset their own emissions. The demand for credits may provide a revenue stream that will allow the use of biochar to expand beyond its niche status today.
Soil amendments, pesticides — basically all the stuff that “goes into the food that we eat” are “$10 billion, $100 billion global market opportunities,” the VC said. For example, “the synthetic fertilizer market is $180 billion a year. There is a big prize to be had,” said the investor.
